Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I change not;

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

Confess, “I am loved by God and have eternal life with Him.”
Pray, “Thank You that I am loved by You, and I have eternal life.”

Today we are looking at the simplest of truths that God loves us and how we can personalise this fact so that we can each declare, “God loves me.”

The 2 Old Testament verses that we are looking look at today help us to establish a timeless truth that what God has spoken, He means for all time and to all people. We could use so many verses to back this truth up; however, I hope that the two I have included here are enough for you to feel God’s heart towards you.

The New Testament verses are amongst the best-known verses of the whole Bible. If God so loved the world, there is no way that we can say He doesn’t love us, seeing as this verse has no exceptions. “Ah, but you don’t know how bad I have been…” Even this statement does not exclude us from the promise. If you recall, Jesus was hung between 2 thieves at His crucifixion.

He was innocent, as His two companions were guilty. They hung there because of the seriousness of their crimes. One of them admits this when he says that, unlike Jesus, they deserve to be there. Then he looks at Jesus and says, “Remember me when You come into your Kingdom”, and Jesus says, “Today you will be with Me in paradise.”

This really is the most fundamental truth of our relationship with God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. If Jesus forgave a known criminal who could in no way repay Him, would never go to the temple, witness to another person or give anything in return for this forgiveness, then He has forgiven us too.

The love that held Jesus on that cross was for all mankind, for all time, and that includes me, and it includes you. So, let us today declare with all boldness that “God loves me”, and as we look at John 17:3 and realise that knowing God through Jesus is the true definition of eternal life, let us also declare, “I have eternal life”.

I pray that this reflection on the simplest of Bible truths has been helpful, and I hope that you will proclaim, “I am loved by God and have eternal life with Him” as many times as you can today.

All the best,
